Bill Creamer was born in York County, Pennsylvania, on December 1, 1916. Enlisting in the naval reserve in 1939, he was assigned to Torpedo Squadron Eight in the summer of 1941. Quiet and reserved, he enjoyed spending his off-hours with his treasured hand tools. A gifted carver, he was working on a koa wood bowl the night before he was killed at Midway.
